Madrid

My first day in Madrid after the long flight from Australia. To clear the head and walk of the confines  of plane travel I ventured into the day. It was a beautiful, clear day, with warmth in the air. Perfect for the purpose. I meandered through the streets of Salamanca to the Parque del Retiro, full of formal gardens, statues, a boating lake and the magnificent Palacio de Cristal and the El Angel Caido.

I have just finished uploading images and most of the writing to an Adobe Portfolio website. This will eventually work in conjunction with the full Archive 555 Square Space commercial website-this is very close to be coming a reality. Watch this space! 😄

Open Studio

The Open Studio was a resounding success. Lots of people, lots of conversations, lot of artwork going to new homes. One of the conversations I had a lot was how I could get such colour accuracy from artwork I photographed, prepared for print and then subsequently printed. It helps if you are know the artwork very well. You can then adjust your files accordingly. You also need to know your printer and paper. When all this happens you can be confident your prints will be exactly as you envisage them. Of course there are tools to help-software for calibrating your screen are vital. Following on from this we have become Museo Paper legends. I have used Museo Paper for all my exhibition prints and for doing limited edition prints of Tiff's watercolour paintings. The quality, sharpness and handling ability are just fantastic.

Tiff Brown watercolour masterclass as part of Design Canberra

Tiff Brown will be giving a watercolour masterclass at 12 on Saturday as part of the Design Canberra Festival. A fantastic chance to observe an expert in action. This is what Anne Ryan, the Curator of Prints, Drawings and Watercolours at the Art Gallery on NSW said of Tiff's National Watercolour winning painting “…It’s an exceptionally well-made object but also a beautifully made object and a worthy winner of a prize dedicated to watercolour.’ She also commented that, ‘…(Tiff’s) use of the watercolour medium is virtuosic’ and that the work was, ‘…very exceptionally well-resolved…’

Design Canberra Open Studio 10th November 2018

Preparations are under way for this Saturday's Open Studio. The studio will be open to the general public and there will be discussions, master classes, signings and lots of images available for purchase as artist proofs or cards. Many of the images are one off artist proofs in a variety of sizes and will range from the very inexpensive up. There will also be original paintings and limited edition signed prints. The studio will be open from 11-4pm. The Open Studio is being held in conjunction with the Design Canberra Festival 2018.

Archive 555, the new web library of images is becoming a reality. The website is well on the way. and we are planning for it to be launched in conjunction with the Open Studio on Saturday 10th November.
