memoria, platea (latin: memory, place)
'memoria, platea' brings together six artists investigating place, memory and identity. The six are from distinctly different cultural backgrounds and combine place, their own cultural heritage and diaspora as central tenets for their art practice. Using ceramics, painting, print making and photography, each artist , with their own methodolgy, but all with a similar visual and conceptual frame, come together for this exhibition to present a contemporary artist's urban existence.
All preparations are underway! We are all battening down the hatches and girding our loins. Will we pull it all together in time? The answer is a resounding, 'Yes!'. We are certainly a motley crew but consummate professionals all. Thanks to Mac Nichols for being the captain of the ship and navigating the choppy waters of group exhibition preparation. It can be a fairly hairy task, but he has been intrepid (thus far).
It should be a very good exhibition and a very fun night so we hope to see everyone at the opening.
